Intersektionalität ist ein Konzept, welches in den 70er Jahren von Schwarzen Frauen* benannt wurde, um die weißdominierte feministische Bewegung zu kritisieren und zu erweitern. Dabei ging und geht es darum, dass wir komplexe Lebensrealtitäten nicht eindimensional denken und bekämpfen können.
Wenn wir intersektional denken, sehen wir Macht- und Gewaltsysteme wie Rassismus, Klassismus, Heteronormativität, Homo- und Trans*feindlichkeit, Ableism, postkoloniale und kapitalistische Machtstrukturen etc. nicht als einzelne Kategorien sondern als Strukturen, die gleichzeitig und gemeinsam wirken.
Wenn wir intersektional aktivistisch arbeiten, können wir nicht eindimensional arbeiten. Wir müssen uns fragen: “Wen denken wir nicht mit? Welche Lebensrealität wird bisher unsichtbar gemacht?”

Intersectionality is a concept that was coined by Black women* in the 1970s to criticize and expand the white-dominated feminist movement. The main argument was (and is) that we can’t think of complex life realities in a one-dimensional way, to challenge and fight oppressive structures.
When we think of intersectionally, we see systems of power and violence such as racism, classism, heteronormativity, homophobia, trans*phobia, Ableism, postcolonial and capitalist power structures, etc. not as single categories but as structures that operate simultaneously and in different life realities intersect.
When we work intersectionally, we cannot work one-dimensionally. We have to ask ourselves, „Who are we not thinking about? What life realities are being made invisible?“
